Can I just say, first and foremost, I fucking hate this shit. I mean like wanna-pull-a-SUCCESSFUL-January 6th sick of this shit.

It’s only been two months.

Hubby and I really tried to stay away from “the news” (for the most part, ya gotta have some legit info here and there). We did well but I’m fairly certain he broke before I did. We did watch “the news” one morning together planning on going back to music and cat videos with our morning coffee the next day but I think that bald British bearded Mr. Clean bastard on YouTube got to him first. He loves that guy.

He loves the redneck dude too.

In fact, he loves a lot of those… individuals.

Me? Not so much. Don’t care who they are (who they think they are). Don’t consider them ‘expert’ on anything except maybe lightning, sounds, and camera angles.

And, ya know, why? They let ME on YouTube and I can say pretty much anything I want and put it up there and I am NOT an ‘expert’ on anything. Jack of All Trades? Most definitely. Expert? Certainly not.

(I know you’re out there, honey, and I love you! You also already know I can’t stand these guys.)

On we go…so, here and there I’d get these little snippets of these YouTube folks talking while I was out of the room. To counteract them…we went back to watching “the news” in the morning. Love my local news. Love my local news people. They stay local. I like that.

I limit the amount of National News I get in the morning after he leaves for work.

Ugh.

Facebook.

I try hard to stay off of it but the shit can be like crack. I’ve watched a lot of train wrecks and twisted my rubberneck nearly a full 90 degrees several times. I have remained silent more often than not just hitting that ‘snooze’ button when the urge to post a response comes along.

***Sidebar*** I love my GenX Group. That’s my Tribe. They have let me know that I am SO NOT ALONE in this! There are memes about it with hundreds if not thousands of ‘likes’ ‘loves’ and positive responses. GenX is sick of this shit. We want to wring your fucking necks but, in the end, you’re just not worth it. ***End sidebar***

I had to hit ‘snooze’ several times again today. Eventually, I’m just going to dump these people into the Cyber Abyss. I don’t care about their ‘connection’ to me anymore.

I’m talking about people who habitually post gloating FALSE information. Like just ALL the time. It’s a constant barrage of BS as though they have nothing else going on in their lives. They’re completely fixated on ‘being right’ and ‘telling me so’ with bogus intel. People who are so ‘happy’ with the fact that thousands of their fellow citizens, hard working people like themselves, with families, bills, and mortgages, and car loans, and credit cards, all that happy-crappy a ‘good American’ is supposed to have in 2025…just LOST THEIR JOBS.

When did that become a ‘good thing’?

Once upon a time, we railed against mass layoffs, including Republicans.

No longer.

Why?

Elon Musk, the immigrant Muskrat, has ‘saved the taxpayer money’.

How? Exactly.

Those good hard working American Citizens who just lost their jobs have moved from the Pay Rolls to the Unemployment Line.

What do you think the next Jobs Report is going to look like?

What is Elon’s plan for creating thousands upon thousands of jobs for those good hard working American Citizens to fill?

While they’re in the Unemployment Line (and honestly I hope each of them sucks down every penny they can get) and maybe getting government funded ‘retraining’ of some sort, they’ll qualify for SNAP benefits and, at least, totally cheap insurance on the Exchanges if not getting Medicaid itself because they’re now below that line. So, the taxpayers truly are now “paying for their insurance ” whereas once they paid their share through their employer. Probably a policy with a high deductible.

Hummm.

What was that? Savings?

In certain cases, some of those unemployed people will qualify for specialized help in getting job retraining and special Employer Incentive to Hire on top of it all because they’re…old…like me. Not old enough to ‘retire’ by any means. Just ‘old enough’ to be considered ‘old’. (Yes, there are other reasons but let’s just stick with this.)

Or maybe, like my hubby with his double-knee replacement, they’ll be considered ‘old’ and ‘partially disabled’.

That’s attractive to a new employer, hey?

I mean, especially since we got rid of all the DEI stuff. And the employer tax breaks that went with them…I hope. Yeah, certainly those special Employer Incentives to Hire went out the window too, right? Why do you think you were being asked if you were a Veteran or Disabled when you filled out a job application? It’s not because they were being nice.

So, if my hubby, who will turn 60 next month and is ‘partially disabled’, and who works for a government contractor (probably of another contractor–that shit gets complicated around here), who works for a local big time employer in some Cyber Abyss that I don’t care about, should lose his job because of Elon Musk…where do you expect him to work? Walmart? That’s not going to pay the bills by any means. My hubby has worked for one government contractor or another…or another…or another…for, I dunno, twenty maybe twenty-five years.

When the church where I work closes (oh so much to blog about there one day! OMG!) where do you expect me to work? I’ll be 59 this year. Who’s going to hire me?

No.

We’ll both be on Unemployment and SNAP and Medicaid. Eventually he’ll move to Disability if he can’t find a good job. I’ll end up…somewhere. I’ll probably hang on until 62 instead of 65 or 70 and collect a lower early SS rate moving to Medicare at that time.

So will thousands upon thousands of other people like us in our age bracket. It will happen simply because we’re considered ‘not hirable’ by a ton of employers just because of our age.

What about those Other People with all of those Other Reasons (mentioned above) who will find themselves in a similar leaky boat. What do you think they will end up doing?

Long story short; you’re going to pay out the ass for this in the end. The real pisser is that a whole lot of good hard working American Citizens and their American Families are going to suffer for it.
