Healthcare Fun-Follow Up

Just thought I’d let you know…

Got in touch with AccessHealthCT.com today via their Chat thing. That’s after trying to follow the directions that I managed to find to “Report Changes”. Every time I clicked that link…the damn thing told me to sign in.

I am signed in!

Anyway it ended up just being one big loop over and over and over until I wanted to scream.

I try not to take my frustrations out on Customer Service because it’s not their fault and I have been Customer Service.

I was told that I had checked the ‘no’ box when applying for health insurance (Medicaid) and to take several steps….like climb to the top of the Capitol steps…to fix the problem. Oh, yes, BTW, they don’t really like my browser, I should clear cookies, sign in again, try again, and see how it goes. If that doesn’t work download another browser and try that.

Excuse me? Your site doesn’t work with one of the most popular browsers?

Ok. Well, it’s not intuitive anyway so why not?

Anyway, it just so happens that the site you apply for healthcare through…and not one thing else…nada zippo zero nothing else! You cannot do any other thing here that does not have to do with you getting health insurance. Automatically clicks some ridiculous ‘box’ that say you are NOT APPLYING for health insurance.

Yeah, please read it again and let it settle in.

After making sure with the Chat Lady that actually sending paper forms was still ok and trying to hard to hold my temper. I just had to say it was kind of a No-Brainer that’s why I–or anyone!–is there…to apply for health insurace.

Certainly it isn’t just to happily hand over all of our personal information to the goverment.

Right?

Anyway, after making sure paper was still ok, acknowledging it wasn’t Chat Lady’s fault and wishing her a nice day, I tried for about 20 minutes to follow the Capitol steps. It took forever to find the place where 1-it would display. It should be right there when I go to look at my information but it’s not. You really have to dig for it. 2-it took even longer to find out HOW TO CHANGE IT. There should be an ‘edit’ link right there but it’s not. No. No it is not.

I did eventually manage to get the site to show me that sweet spot and I clicked ‘yes’ (you fucking idiot!) that we are indeed applying for health insurance and not just farting around here because I’m bored.

I actually managed to add Oldest Daughter to the account. I clicked the ‘no’ box for her because she already has Husky. She still lives with us and we pay all of her expenses therefore she is a dependent.

When I went to ‘save’ my information thinking I was finally getting somewhere I was promptly told I could go no further. I had to call Customer Service.

I’ll pass.

It saved. It updated. It’s correct.

Now I’ll mail in the paperwork.
