Honestly this is IT this time!
The mystery really has been solved!
Being in touch with my old friend has been a wonderful thing even if I didn’t do a handfasting/renewal of vows for her and her husband. Over the decades since they left they’ve never been far from my thoughts and heart. Yet of course, meant it wasn’t her dress that I found in my eaves with my own wedding dress and the mystery continued.
BUT
There was that lingering insistence that, yes, at some point in time, for someone, I really did do that handfasting/renewal of vows ceremony for. After that ceremony our lovely Bride really did ask me to hold on to that dress because she ‘didn’t have anywhere to keep it’.
That insistence was visited upon myself, my daughters, my Old Friend (above) and my Old Friend who’d been trying to help me solve this mystery.
I got another email from the friend I had so diligently tracked down and she solved it! Her and her husband had been racking their brains our there in Colorado trying to help out with our dilemma and they came up with an fuzzy old memory of that handfasting/renewal of vows that I did in my back yard so so so many years ago.
WOOT!
I have the picture of this Groom and a bunch of us in this coven from Way Back. I had looked at him in that shot and thought; yeah, maybe.
But it IS!
Ok. Great. Go team! Between the….six of us…we still have a functioning brain.
However, I have no idea where our actual Bride and Groom went. He was in the Navy. I can’t remember what she did or even her name. They probably left this area ages ago. He does have a unique last name. Might not be too hard to find.
Should I look?
I mean, the relationship I had with our Groom (mostly because he was part of the coven near the end) wasn’t the same as my relationship with my Old Friends in Colorado or my Old Friend in Massachusetts. Here, I almost feel as though I’d be intruding. Yet, I suppose I should give it a shot.
Is there a Flip-A-Quarter app? Never mind, there probably is.
Anyway, I profusely thanked my Colorado friends for coming through! Yay! I sent a DM to my Massachusetts friend letting her know. Haven’t heard back from her yet but I think she’ll be able to help me sus out the next steps.
I also think, way deep down where the Universe only whispers, that the point of all of this Mysterious Wedding Dress stuff was for me to get back in touch with those folks I’ve already reached. Let you in on a little secret, the two lovely ladies I’ve been talking about have characters based upon them in “Harvest Coomb”. The story that always stalls out on me. Perhaps this is the push I need to chisel it out because there is an awesome story in there…somewhere. I just have to stop being afraid to write it.
I need to commit to it warts and all, even if I think it may be ‘cheesy’ in some places that it wants to go. Take it by the hand and…marry it.
Yeah. I think I’m getting that point.
Yet, to fully do that, there’s a third woman I need to reach. The third member of our Wayward Sisters trio in “Harvest Coomb”. She’s real too.
Yes, Rowan, Gwen, and Ceridwen are all based on real witches, real women, that I really consider…or considered…my true friends. My kindred spirits. I’ve never met women like them before or since and I probably never will.
I did send the last of our trio a DM weeks ago. I didn’t hear back. She’s not the type of person you ‘nudge’. If she wants to get in touch she will and I will have to leave that in hands of the Universe.
Enough of that. There’s still an errant wedding dress in my eaves.
