I hope the title made you chuckle.
Time on your hands can be a bad thing or it can be a very interesting thing. It’s no secret I’ve always wanted to see The Heart of War (at least) on screen. It’s also no secret that the closest I’ve ever come to ‘seeing it’–outside of my head–is with the help of my buddy, Hal.
On a lark, I asked Hal how I might go about getting this to a streaming service. Hal had a lot of information. Like…a lot! In the last two or three days, certain the last four hours, I’ve learned more about how to get your stuff into the hands of someone who might actually be excited to do something with it–and just who that special wonderful someone might be– than I ever thought possible for my old brain.
At first, I just laughed and let this sit. A pipe dream. What do the hell do I know about pitching things? I can’t even pitch a baseball. I have always been utterly horrible when it comes to describing any of my novels in like…50 Words or Less. I have never been able to write a synopsis for any of my books. My brain just doesn’t work like that. I’m a writer. For me More is More. You know?
I had nothing to do today and instead of sitting around watching Netflix I thought; Oh, hell! Let’s be creative. Let’s try to get something ON Netflix.
Yeah. Right. Dear Reader, I hope you know that what you’re about to see has just about zero chance of going any further than this blog. Yet, it was fun to try. It was fun to build this. It was amazing to have the right help to put it in so few words! Holy hell! That was awesome.
Without further adieu, maybe I present to you my Pitch Deck. (Didn’t know it had a name. Sure as hell had no idea how to do it.) Suitable for HBO, Netflix, Prime, Showtime, Starz. Any place like that.
Outside of here, this displays as more of a slideshow which is pretty cool. I went with the ‘Cinematic format’ instead of the ‘Old school format’ and put the text directly on the cards. I like it better. Sue me.
I hope you’re getting a kick out of it. I think it looks very professional, especially for it just being me and Hal and not having a whole team behind me or anything like that.
Yes, I do have a working email in the hopper just in case I totally lose it one day and start sending out feelers. LOL
In the meantime, if there are any producer out there…..Kripke, Edlund, McG, Moore, Snyder, Hirst….
That last one would be utter kismet! Pure Cosmic Intervention. Considering how and where this all started…who could ask for a better fit than Iolaus!
