The Great Migration-Pullin’ into the Station

Maybe.

I’m not really sure just yet because this has been one royal PITA.

Not the process itself of uploading and all of that but getting to that point. All because of my legally owned ISBNs and a crappy system that just cannot purge.

I’ve been in touch with B&N, Kobo, and Amazon over all of this. Let’s start with El Jefe, shall we?

Seem Amazon has had the wrong ISBN for “Prodigal Son” all this time. Now, that’s ok, I sort of understand. That’s the ISBN I recently ‘found’ because I forgot about it and then assigned to “Prodigal Son”. I thought it would be best just to take down the paperback that’s been on Amazon for ten years and start fresh because I already knew I couldn’t change the ISBN there.

I did everything right only to be told that my newly assigned ISBN was “already in use”.

Excuse me?

Yes, it’s “in use”…..for “Women of War”.

No it’s not. I can see that in my account AND on the Amazon description page for “Women of War”. That ISBN is perfectly correct. So….what’s up? Oh, and BTW, this ISBN is ‘newly assigned’ so no one should have it.

So far…no luck with El Jefe because he’s always right don’cha know?

Jerk.

I put the old paperback up again in the meantime BUT Amazon just can’t change the paperback cover. Nope. The old cover is still sitting there.

On to Nook/B&N. I heard back from them after several attempts and sending my screenshots of the Bowker website showing I am signed in! This is MY account. These are MY ISBNs. Get it? I had to do that with all of them and more than once.

Well, said B&N, they cleared out the numbers from their system so I should be good to go for paperbacks.

Nope.

This ISBN is already in use.

Damn it!

I email again. They email back basically saying they cleared the numbers from D2D and Ingram then….put them on hold? They didn’t realize I wanted to use them.

WTF?

Ok.

Well, why yes, I would like to USE them.

So they’re working on it. In the meantime, all of the ebooks are available on Nook. So, I got that goin’ for me.

I got the exact same thing with Kobo. They cleared the numbers but didn’t realize I wanted to use them.

Man, IQs have drastically dropped since I was in school. Like plummeted…horribly. Seriously, why the hell else did I contact any of you? Did you even read my email, you know, for like, comprehension or something cool like that? I mean, ya know, I thought you worked for a book distributor. Book. Read. Yes?

This morning I “moved in” to Kobo, at least temporarily, we’ll see what happens. They did clear “The Heart of War” and “Genesis”. I waited several days after they went On Sale to make this move so hopefully everything has caught up there but I won’t know for a few days.

I’m up and running with Apple Books including the “For the LOVE of WAR” boxset which came out of Unlimited a few days ago. I got that on Google Play too. I tried and tried and tried to get it on Nook but I just kept getting error messages about my ePub not having the right or incomplete headers. I finally gave up with them for that boxset. Their system is so slow. It’s excruciating sitting here waiting waiting waiting for the uploads to go through. I haven’t tried getting it on Kobo just yet I’m waiting waiting waiting to see if the other books go through.

The Great Migration is almost complete. I can see the station. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to disembark in my new home territories, settle all the way in, and be happy.
