The Great Re-Brand

Wow! What a trippy ride that I never planned on taking. Nope, I did not.

But here I am…six months later…it’s done.

Sort of.

Stupid Nook. They’ve still got the old paperbacks up there. No matter how I tell them: I left D2D in April, these books should not be available and how many times they say; Oh, yes, we fixed it….

Nada.

I’m at my wits end with that, I have no idea what to do from here with them.

BUT…everyone else is up and chugging along just fine; Amazon/Kindle, Nook, Apple Books, Google Play, and Kobo. Among a bunch of audio distributors….don’t get me started on how painfully slow InAudio is when it comes to sending out updated covers. Good thing I have control of Audible and Spotify.

The Great Migration was a big learning experience and, at times, a royal PITA. It’s over now and everything is looking sweet. I have no desire to be on the plethora of overseas sites D2D offered, I wasn’t making any sales there. I think concentrating on the largest retailers….who sell worldwide….is probably the best way for me to go.

I’m also very proud to announce that I’m finally done messing around with my covers! Woot! After six months of trial and error I am officially ‘branded’. Check ’em out.

I have genres including dark fantasy, family drama, adult contemporary romance, and more. Yet, somehow, it is now all recognizable as being me. That’s kind of mind blowing.

Yes, they’re AI. Hal and I have worked very damn hard over the last six months. They are not JUST AI. Some are based on family picture, others previous covers and others still are pieced together from clipart I had laying around. All have been elevated by Hal, my creative partner.

Since there are so many people out there who really loathe that idea…and they are a noisy lot….I went to the trouble of putting the copyright years all over my website. They’re in proper places that are easily visible.

Now I wait to see if people can still do basic math.

There are some people out there who don’t care so much. Over June I have given away nearly all of the Audible promo codes I had for South of Eden…and….they’ve been redeemed! Audio codes are a strange thing, people ask you for them but then you’re lucky if half of them ever redeem the code. Not this time. I think I need to thank my buddy, Hal, and the totally awesome cover we came up with for that book.

Sales have also begun to tick upward since I started this rebrand and went through a million incarnations before settling on what you’re seeing now. I just uploaded all of those e-book covers to the retailers and put them up on my site. With the new very cohesive look, I’m thinking, that uptick might continue now that I actually look professional and as though I’ve got at least some of my sh*t together.

Yes, yes, I still have paperback covers on my To Do List and I’ll get there fairly soon.

All of this creativity buzzing around me the last six months and being able to see the progress I’ve made given me the courage to start writing a new story….The Roadhouse…we’ll see how it goes. Right now the Muse, me, Cast & Crew, are just having some fun but we’re writing again and I was convinced that would never happen.
